Today, USCIS is expanding myProgress (formerly known as personalized processing times) to include Form I-821, Application for Temporary Protected Status, and Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status. Initially, myProgress will be exclusively available for family-based or Afghan extraordinary immigrant I-485 applicants.
Enhancing Applicant Experience with myProgress
myProgress is an innovative online tool designed to provide applicants with personalized estimates of their wait time for significant milestones and actions on their case. This includes crucial moments such as the confirmation of application receipt, movement through preprocessing and adjudicative steps, and the final case decision. These estimates are based on case type and historical patterns, offering applicants a unique insight into their immigration journey.
It’s important to note that while myProgress offers valuable estimates, it cannot guarantee exact timing and may not account for all possible unique application processing factors. Nonetheless, this tool is a proactive measure to address applicant concerns regarding the status of their benefit requests while awaiting a decision.
Aligning with USCIS Strategic Plan and Executive Order 14058
The introduction of myProgress aligns with USCIS’ commitment to supporting Executive Order 14058 on Transforming Federal Customer Experience and Service Delivery to Rebuild Trust in Government Mandates. By expanding myProgress, USCIS aims to reduce the need for case status inquiries, demonstrating its dedication to enhancing the experience of the people it serves. This initiative is part of USCIS’ broader Strategic Plan, further emphasizing its commitment to innovation and improved service delivery.
Expanding Transparency in the Adjudication Process
With myProgress, USCIS anticipates an increase in transparency throughout the adjudication process. Applicants can access this valuable tool by creating a USCIS online account, logging into their existing account, and selecting their pending application. If they filed online or linked an applicable form to their account using an online access code, a myProgress tab for their application will be visible. This tab displays estimated wait times for case decisions and tracks milestones as they are completed.
Access to myProgress for Various Forms
In addition to Forms I-485 and I-821, myProgress is available for applicants with a USCIS online account who file Forms I-765, Application for Employment Authorization; Form I-131, Application for Travel Document; Form N-400, Application for Naturalization; Form I-90, Application to Replace Permanent Resident Card; or Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative.
How to Access myProgress
To view myProgress, applicants must create a USCIS online account or log in and select their pending application. If they filed online or linked a relevant form to their account, the myProgress tab for their application will be accessible. This tab offers real-time insights into the processing milestones, helping applicants stay informed throughout the adjudication process.
Service Request Eligibility
While myProgress provides a comprehensive view of case processing, applicants may still need to visit the public Check Case Processing Times webpage to determine eligibility for filing an Outside of Normal Processing Times service request.
In conclusion, USCIS continues to prioritize customer experience and transparency with the expansion of myProgress. This initiative is a testament to USCIS’ commitment to modernization and improved service delivery in line with its strategic objectives and government mandates. Applicants are encouraged to leverage myProgress to gain personalized insights into their immigration journey and stay informed at every step of the process.
