Immigration Paralegal

Richards and Jurusik LLP is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Immigration Paralegal to join our growing immigration law practice in Buffalo, New York.

This position involves working closely with our attorneys and clients on a broad range of U.S. immigration matters, including business and employment-based immigration, family-based immigration, naturalization, and related applications. The ideal candidate is organized, client-focused, comfortable managing multiple matters and deadlines, and interested in building a long-term career in immigration law.

Prior immigration paralegal experience is preferred but not required. Candidates who demonstrate strong organizational, communication, and attention-to-detail skills are encouraged to apply.

This is a full-time, in-office position requiring regular presence in our Buffalo office.

Key Responsibilities

Immigration Case Preparation

  • Prepare immigration petitions, applications, forms, and supporting documentation for attorney review.
  • Assist with business immigration matters, including TN, L-1, H-1B, E-1, E-2, O-1, and employment-based permanent residence cases.
  • Assist with family-based immigration matters, including family petitions, adjustment of status, consular processing, fiancé(e) visas, and naturalization.
  • Assist attorneys with Requests for Evidence and other government correspondence.
  • Review documents and case materials for accuracy, completeness, and consistency before attorney review and filing.

Client Communication & Case Management

  • Communicate with clients to gather documents, provide case updates, and coordinate next steps.
  • Monitor case deadlines, immigration status expirations, filing requirements, and required follow-ups.
  • Maintain accurate and organized electronic case files.
  • Track case progress and help ensure matters continue moving efficiently through each stage of the immigration process.
  • Provide professional, responsive, and client-focused support throughout each matter.

Team Collaboration

  • Work collaboratively with attorneys, paralegals, legal assistants, and other members of the firm.
  • Assist attorneys with case preparation, document review, research, and other immigration-related projects.
  • Help maintain consistent case-management practices and high standards for accuracy and client service.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Prior U.S. immigration paralegal experience is preferred but not required.
  • Experience with business immigration, family-based immigration, or both is highly valued.
  • Strong organizational, case-management, and communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a legal team.
  • Professional, dependable, collaborative, and client-focused approach.
  • Interest in developing immigration law knowledge and building a long-term career with the firm.
  • Ability and willingness to work full-time in our Buffalo office.
