What is an Engineer for TN visa purposes?
The TN Visa Engineer profession can be complicated due to the various professions that can qualify under the TN Visa Engineer profession. When the USMCA (NAFTA) was drafted they only contemplated the traditional Engineering professions: Chemical Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Civil Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Industrial Engineer, etc. Since the adoption of the USMCA (NAFTA), there are many new IT engineer professions and computer related positions that also qualify under the TN Visa Engineer profession. The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) provides a detailed breakdown of the Accounting profession through O*NET Online.
