On September 28, 2022, US Citizenship and Immigration Services announced that effective Sept. 26, 2022, they will automatically extend the validity of US Permanent Resident Cards (Green Cards) for 24 months for those who file Form I-90, Application to Replace Permanent Resident Card. This will replace the previous 12-month extension. USCIS Form I-90 receipt notices will now include language indicating the 24-month extension. Those with already pending I-90 applications will be issued amended receipt notices with the 24-month extension. The receipt notice along with the expired green card is official proof of valid status.

USCIS PROCESSING UPDATE – USCIS Adjudication of Form I-765
When you file a USCIS Form I-485 Application to Adjust Status to a US Permanent Resident (Green Card) along with USICS Form I-765 Application for Employment Authorization and USCIS Form I-131 Application for Travel Authorization concurrently (At the same time), USCIS will adjudicate the I-765 Application for Employment Authorization first. If approved, USCIS will issue the Employment Authorization Document (EAD) without joint travel authorization. They will then adjudicate Form I-131 Application for Travel Authorization separately.
