Full Interview Document Checklist
Bring the following items to your interview. If your documents are not in English or French, provide certified English translations.
- Appointment letter from NVC or confirmation email
- Valid passport (must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your planned U.S. entry date)
- Two U.S. visa photos (2×2 inches or 5×5 cm, color, taken within the last 6 months)
- Sealed medical exam results from an approved panel physician (if you received them)
- Original birth certificate and one photocopy
- Original civil documents:
- Marriage/divorce certificate(s), if applicable
- Adoption papers or custody documents, if applicable
- Police certificates (for applicants aged 16+)
- Military records, if you served in any military
- Court/criminal records if you have any past convictions
- Name change records, if your name is different from your birth certificate
- Financial documents:
- Affidavit of Support (Form I-864 or I-864EZ)
- Petitioner’s U.S. legal status proof (e.g., passport, naturalization certificate)
- Petitioner’s most recent tax return (Form 1040)
- If a joint sponsor is used, same documents from the joint sponsor and I-864A if married
- Employment-based applicants: Bring a recent (within 30 days) letter from your U.S. employer
- One photocopy of every original document listed above
Tip: Upload all documents to your online DS-260 application. The consulate will not upload them for you.
Medical Exam Information
You must complete your medical exam with a consulate-approved doctor before your interview. Schedule early as results may take up to one week.

Register Your Appointment
Each visa applicant must register their interview online before attending. This is required to receive your passport and visa packet by mail.
On the Day of Your Interview
- Arrive early. Only applicants, interpreters, or caregivers may enter.
- Bring only your documents—security screening is strict.
- Fees (if not prepaid) must be paid in cash or card (USD or CAD).

After the Interview
- Approved visas are returned by courier with your passport and sealed envelope.
- Do NOT open the sealed packet. Bring it to the U.S. border.
- Pay your USCIS Immigrant Fee before traveling to the U.S.
- Green cards are mailed to the U.S. address you listed in your DS-260 form.
